The Trip Editor

The Trip Editor is the core of Rooutie, designed to give you complete control over your itinerary while keeping the process simple and visual.

Interface Overview

Desktop Layout

On a desktop screen, the editor is divided into three main panels (from left to right):

1. Map View (Left): Shows the route for the selected day or the entire trip. You can drag places from here directly into your itinerary.
2. The Itinerary (Middle): Your chronological plan where you manage days and steps.
3. Navigation & Places (Right): A list of all places and days for quick navigation.

Mobile Layout

On mobile devices, the interface is optimized for smaller screens:

• Top Navigation: A horizontal bar allows you to switch between the Map, Itinerary, and Details views.

View Modes

At the top of the itinerary, you will find three buttons to switch between different levels of detail:

1. Less Info

• Overview: A clean, compact view of your trip.
• Quick Actions: Easily add or remove places.
• Drag & Drop: This is the best mode for dragging places from the map directly into your itinerary.

2. Calendar

• Time Management: Visualize your day with start and end times.
• Durations: Set how long you plan to spend at each location.
• Bookings: Add booking confirmations and reservation details.

3. More Info

• Rich Details: See photos, ratings, and descriptions for each place.
• Practical Info: Check opening hours and ticket prices.
• Edit: Update descriptions or add personal notes to each step.

Adding Content

Adding a Day

• Click the “Add Day” button at the bottom of the itinerary.
• Or, use the Day Menu (three dots) to “Add Day Above” or “Add Day Below”.

Adding a Step

This is how you build your day.

1. Click the + Add button.
2. You can then choose from 4 different methods to add a step:
   • Add through URL: Paste a Google Maps place URL, GetYourGuide URL, Booking.com URL or Viator URL.
   • Search: Search for a place by name.
   • Add Note: Add a custom note to your itinerary.
   • Add Transport: Add transport details (Coming soon: specific transport types like walk, car, bike, plane with more details).
3. Rooutie AI: In the add modal, you can also ask the Rooutie AI travel agent for advice (e.g., “events between 1-3th Jun in London” or “best restaurants around area”). Click the add button to automatically add the suggestions to your itinerary from the chat.

Drag and Drop

• Reorder Steps: Click and hold a step to drag it to a new time or position within the day.
• Move to Another Day: Drag a step from one day and drop it into another.
• From Map: In “Less Info” mode, drag a pin from the map directly onto your timeline to add it.
• Reorder Days: Collapse the days and drag them to reorder the entire trip sequence.
