Flights

Flights are a first-class citizen in Rooutie. Every flight in your trip gets its own editor with airport search, real-time flight lookup, multi-leg support, and a map showing the route arc. No more digging through booking emails mid-trip — it all lives in your itinerary.

Adding a Flight

Click the + Add button in any day, then select Add TransportFlight. The flight editor opens with two modes: Search by Code and Enter Manually.

Search by Flight Code

The fastest way — type your flight number and Rooutie fills in everything else.
  1. Enter the flight number (e.g., BA234, EK007, FR8362).
  2. Pick the flight date.
  3. Click Search Flight.
If the flight is found, it’s instantly added with:
  • Origin and destination airport codes
  • Departure and arrival times
  • Airline name
  • Flight duration
One tap and you’re done.

Enter Manually

Use this when you want full control, or if the flight search doesn’t find your route. Start typing a city name, airport name, or IATA code (e.g., LHR, CDG, NRT) in the From Airport and To Airport fields. Rooutie searches the global airport database and shows results as CODE — Airport Name (City). Select your airport and the coordinates are set automatically.

Timing

  • Date — departure date
  • Departure Time — local time at origin
  • Arrival Time — local time at destination. If arrival is before departure (e.g., overnight crossing midnight), Rooutie automatically sets the arrival to the following day.

Flight Details

  • Flight Number — e.g., LH401
  • Airline — e.g., Lufthansa
  • Departure Terminal / Arrival Terminal — e.g., T5, Terminal 2
  • Seat — e.g., 23A
  • Class — Economy, Business, First, etc.

More Options (expand for extras)

  • Checked Bags — how many checked bags you’re bringing
  • Carry-on Bags — how many carry-on bags
  • Confirmation Code — your booking reference (e.g., ABC123)
  • Aircraft Type — e.g., Boeing 737, Airbus A380
Click Confirm Flight to add the leg.

Connecting Flights

Multi-leg journeys are handled as a single flight step with multiple legs. After confirming your first leg, click Add Connecting Flight and enter the details for the next segment. All legs are shown together in the itinerary as one combined flight step. The map shows an arc line connecting all airports in the sequence — so you can see your full routing at a glance.

On the Map

As you add or edit flights, the right side of the screen shows a live map:
  • A curved arc connects each airport pair.
  • Airport codes label each point.
  • On mobile, tap View on Map to toggle the map view.

In the Itinerary

Flight steps appear in your itinerary showing:
  • Airport codes: LHR → NRT
  • Departure and arrival times
  • Flight number and airline (if set)
  • Total duration
In Calendar view, flights appear as full-width timeline blocks spanning from departure to arrival time — so you can see exactly how much of your day a flight takes up.

Editing Flights

Click the on any flight step. The flight editor opens pre-filled with all existing leg data. You can:
  • Edit any field on any leg
  • Add or remove connecting flight legs
  • Delete the entire flight step
